The 2017 Gravity Bowl was held on Saturday 23rd September and more than forty competitors competed – and not all from South Africa: we saw a number of international climbers from the United States of America and parts of Europe take part.

WCC Provincial Development Team Awards Ceremony 2017


The colours awards ceremony for our Provincial Top Rope Team taking part in the National Top Rope Climbing Competition on Saturday 30 September was held on Thursday 21st September.


We are proud to announce our 2017 Provincial Development Top Rope Climbing Team that will be taking part in the South African National Development Top Rope Climbing Competition at The Barn Climbing Gym in Pretoria next Saturday 30 September.  Well done to all our youngest climbers who made the team!

South African National Youth Climbing Team – Protea Colours Awards Ceremony 2017


The 2017 South African National Youth Team competing in the IFSC Youth World Championship this year in Austria were awarded their South African Protea Colours on Saturday 26th August 2017.  Out of the 19 athletes selected to represent their country, 12 of them are from Western Cape Climbing.  Both our Team Manager and our Team Coach are from Western Cape Climbing.  A special mention to Rock Chicklets Shanay Meintjes, Alyssa Meyer, Georgiana Dorward, Finchie Lapin and Monique Smit for making the team and being awarded their South African Colours.  And a huge shout out to Colette Rodrigues for making Team Manager!

Youth Climbing World Championships Innsbruck, Austria

The South African National Youth Climbing Team is competing at the IFSC Youth World Climbing Championships from 30th August until 10th September.  The team took part in all three current climbing disciplines, i.e. Lead, Bouldering and Speed.  Watch this space to see how our gals performed!

IFSC Climbing World Cup, Munich, Germany 2017


Our Top Open Athletes from around the Nation competed at the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Munich, Germany this year from 18 until 19 August.  Of the four South African Athletes who competed, three of them are Western Cape Climbing members.  Well done to Rowan Toselli, David Naudé and Saskia Thomas with a special mention to our own lady in the group, Saskia!
